Sponsorship

The sponsorship strategy of the Canadian Committee focuses on providing financial support to deprived and often destitute children from Kolkata and other regions of West Bengal, India. All our children are cared for and educated at Dr. Graham's Homes, Kalimpong. Children are taken in as young as a few weeks old and most will stay until their late teens when their education is completed. Our overhead costs are one of the lowest for all charities (at 20%) which means (80%+) of your sponsorship funds go directly to the welfare of your sponsored child.

Unlike many of the large charities financially supporting children, this is a particularly personal one. Sponsors are encouraged to correspond with the children. All communications are acknowledged by the children through the Homes Sponsor Office. Each Christmas, sponsors receive a Christmas card, a current photograph of the child and their annual school report.

Sponsorship Schemes

Currently, there are a number of schemes operating which offers choice to prospective sponsors.

    • Single Sponsorship (most popular): a single Sponsor commits to (partially) supporting a named child throughout the school career; ($440/year OR $37/month)
    • Full Sponsorship: a single Sponsor commits to (fully) supporting a named child throughout the school career; ($1860/year OR $155/month)
    • Part Sponsorship: a single Sponsor commits to providing a proportion of the support required for a named child throughout the school career;
    • Joint Sponsorship: two independent Sponsors commit to providing a proportion (or all) of the support required for a named child throughout the school career.
    • Group Sponsorship: a number of like-minded individuals usually from a club or community venture (church, guild, friends etc) commit to supporting a named child.
    • Fund Sponsorship: a named Fund established, perhaps, to remember an individual, to recognize an organisation, or perhaps as a Trust may also support a named child; this generally amounts to Full Sponsorship.
